Hello my blog-ish-sort-of-diary. :)

Sooo...

Things I've come to realize:

1. I've come to realize as I write (well more like type), that it's really de-stressing. Like with each word, stress just oozes out of my fingers (figuratively of course :P)

So, I'm going to start blogging more often. Yay! and revive this blog thats suffering from like blog-ischaemia and almost to the infarction stage. o.O

2. I like using figurative meanings. Haha. Like that day I was talking to my friend about masks, facades and the likes, he thought I was quoting some poem.

Tee hee. My slightly more creative side is back.

3. I have decided not to let it die although a lot of people claim that med school drains all your creative juices and replaces it with scientifically boogling bricks.

Poems poems maybe? other blog to be updated with some ramblings soon, hopefully.

4. Jazz is still the best kind of music to study with. Jazz with vocals, meaningless ones to be exact. Ones with words cause me to sing along.

Listening to Esperanza now. Awesome stuff. keeps me awake to study at night. Although i suddenly get hyper at certain hours. Night owl, I am.
or maybe it's the half a carton of that strawberry youghurt drink I took.
I feel like jumping up and down! Wheee! :DDD

5. That the mind is a powerful thing. I've got to erase/liquid paper/correction tape off the negative thoughts that I can't do it. I can do it! I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Summativesssss and EOOOSSSS threeeee.

6. I need to start listening properly again. Talk less, listen more. 2 ears and 1 mouth for a reason. haha.

:) and listening is different from hearing, Esther!

7. Maybe use less emoticons? It's so so childish. and mind my language. (:

*doink boink boink* now aren't those cute sounds? :P ahhh another emoticon! *runs!*

Long weekend ahead!! Time to attack notes and enjoy the paradise island. *nom nom nom*

My English has begun to deteriorate. I know there's grammatical errors but I can't seem to pinpoint where exactly. *gahhh*

I've really come to believe that all things happen for the greater good.
All the things I've been through, good or bad, has made me the person I am today.
And truly, I am glad cos I've grown and really experienced much.

Grateful for all the ups and downs, highs and lows.
Family and friends.

One thing I learnt, the calm after the storm makes you realize, that in the heat of things, it isn't as bad as it seems then during that time.
Just like a rainbow after the torrential downpour. Without the heavy rain, you would appreciate the rainbow so much less.
Like bittersweet chocolate.
I think you get my point. :P

2 more weeks, then CVS ends, and respiratory system starts.
Loving the stuff I learn this sem, it's fresh revelation and understanding of what I thought was crazy mumbo jumbo last year.

Korea- Day 1

7th of December, Wednesday

Departed to KLIA first in the evening and then took the night flight to Korea.

Korea is an hour later than Malaysia. Was quite a pleasant flight and managed to sleep during, thankfully because the next day was a full day of events lined up.

The Malaysian skies. :)

In KLIA, we had dinner at Noodles. Quite simple food but expensive considering the quality.

Beef noodles. RM 18.90 per bowl of noodles at average.

Airplanes exhibition at KLIA. Interesing display indeed.

After dinner at Noodles, went to Ipoh Old Town White Coffee for some kaya butter with toast and drinks. Yummmm. :)

I like the Harrods bear. Haha.

Beautiful skies, taken by my sister. I'm always fascinated with skies, trees, rivers and the likes. Never ceases to melt my heart. :) Sentimental little me. :P

Will post about the rest of the days soon. The fun begins. :D

My parents and I drove back up to Penang and I got to drive half of the distance. Tee hee. :P

23rd of Nov, Wednesday

Had tai lok mee at Chulia Street's Goodall.

This tasted so much better than the one at Petaling Street.

24th of Nov, Thursday

Day 1 of Musica Sinfonietta Music Camp.

Had lunch at Lynn's Boutique next to Giant supermarket with Ms Tan, her cello tutor, Leonard and Xiang-Yan.

Ordered a chicken schnitzel set. Was quite nice :)

Tomato soup.

Black coffee.

After rehearsing Holst with the training orchestra in the afternoon, we had a tutti session at night with Prof Donald Maurice from New Zealand School of Music. He was the guest conductor for this camp.

25th of Nov, Friday

Had violin 1 sectionals in the morning and in the afternoon was a talk on Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante by Mr Andrew Filmer. It was really enlightening to know more about the piece which we were to be playing for the concert.

At night, we had tutti and after that, I headed for supper at Kapitan.

Tandoori chicken with garlic naan and teh o' ais.

26th of Nov, Saturday

Had sectionals in the morning, we had Bosch Hall all to ourselves. So cool. haha.

Went out for lunch and a short walk with my parents before tutti at night.

Steamboat at Shuan Shuan Le, Prangin Mall.

27th of Nov, Sunday

Rehearsals were after lunch so I managed to sleep in and make breakfast.

Banana honey pancakes. :)

Lunch at Sukhothai Beef Noodles House.

Ordered the Masaman Curry Chicken Set.

Interesting texture of rice, quite solid and fibrous. And BLUE! :D

Banana sago for dessert. Really sweet.

Had tutti in the afternoon at Masyarakat Penyayang and headed to Dewan Sri Pinang in the evening for another tutti session.

We wore camp shirts for the phototaking session.

At night, headed to the Esplanade Food Court Area and had yummy rojak, firewood pizza and char koay teow.

28th of Nov, Monday

The stage prior to the concert.

Taken after Sinfonia Concertante. Don't have much photos for camp this time.

It was a really nice concert this year with really good pieces.

We played:

Holst- Brook Green Suite with the training orchestra,

Mozart- Sinfonia Concertante, with teacher Mei Yoke and Mr Andrew Filmer playing the concerto part,

Rossini- Il Signor Bruschino

Beethoven- Symphony no. 8

and an encore piece, Brahms- Hungarian Dance no. 1

Even though it was tiring, was glad I joined. Managed to hone my skills a little after so long of not playing. I even thought that I would have forgotten how to play the violin but I guess not. :D

After the concert, had supper at Old Town White Coffee in New World Park.

Hot honey lemon drink.

Double kaya butter toast.

The christmas deco there was really interesting. They used plastic bottles to form a christmas tree.

29th of Nov, Tuesday

Had college link in church. We were trying to spot 9 faces in the picture. Reuben's crutch was used as a pointer. lol.

Looking forward to the remaining one month of the holiday.

Halfway through music camp already. :) It started on the 24th of November and lasts till the 28th of November.

Thought I have forgotten how to play the violin but thank God it kind of just came back to me. It's an ecstatic feeling being able to play again even though I've lost some skill.

This year for Musica Sinfonietta Camp's 2nd Concert we're playing

Holst's Brooke Green Suite with the training orchestra and the main orchestra is playing Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante, Rossini's Il Signor Bruschino Overture, Beethoven's Symphony no. 8 and Brahms Hungarian Dance 1.

Having back aches already due to my posture but it's been really fun.

Concert's on Monday night. Looking forward to it.

Till then, here's to a good night's rest.

Leaving everything I've been over thinking into God's hands and accepting that life is a beautiful song that God is teaching me to play. Everything happens in His timing, just as a composer writes a song from start to end, knowing the note values, rests and the ending chords.

Wednesday (9/11/11)

After EOS, Lydia, Ern Wei, Jason L and I headed to Herbs and Spices for lunch. :)

Then it was Chatime!

Was quite tired after exams so I intended to rest but I couldn't resist going out after so long of being in IMU.

Headed to Mid Valley with some friends and watched Real Steel, 1st row from front.

It was quite a nice and heartwarming show. I'd watch it again!

Had dinner at Mid Valley and headed back afterwards.

Thursday (10/11/11)
Earn Shin and Wan Ni came over in the afternoon to my place to make birthday cards. :)

In the evening, I joined Lydia and her orientation group for a movie, In Time with Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfreid. She's really gorgeous in the movie. Before the movie, we had dinner at Ajisen Ramen.

Friday (11/11/11)

Headed to Mid Valley with Abigail, Lydia and Jason L cause I was terribly bored at home. Had lunch at Taiwanese Delights. Afterwhich, we met up with some Dental people because their exams had finally ended. Watched The Immortals. It was gory but the storyline was quite nice.

Bought a dress from Kitschen which Lydia and Abby helped me to pick out.

Dinner at Sushi King after that and we headed for some drinks and a chat. :)

Saturday (12/11/11)

Met up with some friends for lunch.

After that, the girls and guys went our separate ways. The guys went to Pavillion while us girls, Lydia, Abigail, Wan Ni, Joanne and I headed for some girl time at Sunway.

In the evening, we had SNL! and Pastor Mark spoke on the Holy Spirit living in us. It was a really good message. :)

Sunday (13/11/11)

Headed with Lydia, Jason L, Jason P, Kah Ho, Nicholas, Andrew, Mei Xian and Wei Aik to Mid Valley again. It was the last day they were showing, 'You are the apple of my eye', a really bittersweet Taiwanese movie. Really enjoyed it even though I know little mandarin.

Managed to replace my broken Ipanemas. Yay! :D

While waiting for the movie to start, we had a light bowling session. It was fun to bowl after so long!

Lunch at Delicious before that.

Bought this book from MPH which I finished yesterday. It challenged the some thoughts and reinforced others. :)

Monday (14/11/11)

Headed for lunch at New Lucky in Sri Petaling. Afterwhich we embarked on a journey to Pastor Cat's house where we had 2 days of discovery on who the Holy Spirit is. It was really a wonderful and ministering time. :)

We watched a video first.

Played some board games.

...and ventured into the outdoors to play some captainball with the cute little ball from Hello Panda. Haha.

At night, we had a wonderful time of prayer and a little talk and eat session with Pastor Tim. Thank you for the good food! :D

Tuesday (15/11/11)

In the morning, helped to prepare breakfast a little and we did devotions together.

Then we discussed for the following year, the things we were going to do and our goals.

Thank you Pastor Cat for opening your house so warmly to us IMU-ers. We were truly blessed by you. :)

The Sem 2s of ME111. :)

After the retreat, I unpacked and took a short nap. In the evening, we headed for a bowling session. Played 3 rounds in Sri Petaling Mega Lanes bowling alley. It's quite clean and well kept.

My first round I had scores of 60 something, a major improvement from the day before.

Round 2 and I had 3 strikes. So happy! My name on the scoreboard is E. Haha. Lingers placed first while I placed second.

Round 2. :) dropped quite a bit in terms of score but was still really happy with it. :)

We headed to Sri Petaling for Bak Kut Teh opposite Tong Kee restaurant. Yummy yummy food! :D

Wednesday (16/11/11)

Headed out with Abby's PBL group and other friends to Sunway.

Had lunch at Pepper Lunch and watched Tower Heist after that. A really humorous show that helped me release some endorphins! :D

Shopped a bit after that and managed to get a polka dot dress and a flowery dress. :P

After that, we parted ways with some while Daniel, Jason P, Lydia, Abby and I headed back first for Daniel's library duty.

However, it was raining really heavily and we stuck in a jam for about half an hour. Thank God we made it out alive! Haha.

Dinner was at Face to Face in Sri Petaling for Pan Mee. Yummyy!

And then dessert at Secret Recipe. :)

We had New York cheese cake, Chocolate banana cake, Chocolate mud cake and trans-fat free peach cream cake (my favourite :P)

2 days to results. Nervous but I'm leaving it in God's hands.

There's a season for everything I believe. As I have done my best, I'm enjoying it to the fullest now. Living for each day first and just leaving tomorrows to God till results.

Who knew staying in KL could be so fun? :D

EOS is over after what seems like forever of mugging and studying. I did enjoy the study break, it felt rewarding but after awhile it's quite draining.

Despite how slow time may seem at times, looking back I realized how time flies. :)

Looking back, it seems as though I just started semester 1 and stepped into IMU for the white coat ceremony, a nervous student entering a whole new environment.

Really grateful to God for the friends and experiences that have helped to nurture me and bring me through. I can say that I've really changed since I've entered uni. Maybe age is a factor as well. Hmm.. :P

I hope to be able to officially say that I'm a second year medical student. haha. Awaiting my results which will be released next Friday. Then that will determine how my remaining 2 months will be spent.

God has been faithful and even though I felt like I didn't do that well, I'll just leave the rest to Him for now. I trust that as I have done my best, God will do the rest.

No matter the outcome, I know that God is in control and I hold on to his promises in Isaiah 55:9

"As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Going back to uni now to visit some seniors and others having exams.

EOS is finally here. After a year of med school, this is the deciding exam for the next semesters to come that they come to realization.

God has been so good and faithful to me.

I've never felt such peace before exams.

Truly I know that as I do my best, God will do the rest. I hope things will be okay in Him. :)

I can't imagine how life would be without Jesus.

So grateful for Him.

Reminders.

They come on and off each and every day.

Some bring happy memories.
Others remind you of painful times.

Some bring a glimmer of hope for the future.
Others just bring fear- that someday that something you did might just creep up and haunt you again.
Or that you might repeat the very thing you swore not to do ever again.

That's the way life is. But what you do with these reminders is way more important than the way you feel.

In the end, feelings are just emotions..
Emotions can fool a person easily.

With these emotions, the head should discern and learn.

That's what I'm trying to do at the very least. :)

By God's grace and forgiveness I know that I am set free. Every negative thought, I hold captive and surrender unto Him.

Thank you Lord for each and every new day. And for the fresh chance and redemption in You.

De-stressing

Housework is de-stressing.

Firstly, I attended to my very messy cupboard.
Tackled the cupboard because I jumbled up the order of my clothes.
Now it's divided and folded nicely.

Cupboard- check.

Next, to attend to the laundry.
Clothes go into the laundry bag and dance around in the new washing machine my housemate bought. Wheee thank you for the new washing machine! :D
Others to be handwashed are soaked separately.
After washing it's left to dry.
Oh, the wonderful scent of clean clothes!

Laundry- check.

My room and the toilet's turn.
Dry mop the room and wipe the tables. Who knew a supposedly confined area could be so dusty?
Observation no. 2: I've been losing a lot of hair o.O
And scrub away in the toilet while dancing to music. Haha.

My personal area- check.

The common area.
Sweep, sweep and sweep away.
Dust the area and arrange the bills and letters. Empty the bins.

True bliss!
Gosh I must be really stressed.

It's really been uplifting to be in the company of so many encouraging people during stressful times.

Friends through thick and thin.

Through good and bad,

through laughter and embarassment. :O

It's funny how God has a sense of humour as well. And behind everything there's something underlying, something He reveals.

I never thought that that something could be discovered through a situation like this.

Laughter is awesome. x) we get happy hormones, endorphins. Whee! :D

Welcome, November. :) today it's 1/11/11.

Approximately a week to exams next Tuesday. How time flies.

It feels like I just started uni, now my first year is coming to an end.

God's grace has really seen me through for summatives and I believe He'll do the same for this even more challenging bit.

Woke up surprisingly early today without my alarm clock. Must be a good sign.

As I listened to my daily bread devotion today.. Questions I asked myself...

Where is my treasure?
Where is my heart leaning towards?
What are my priorities?

Things to really think about and ponder on... for,

"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. (Matthew 6:19, 20 NIV)

I realize that many things I focus on are so temporal, and being engulfed in fear, I lose sight of what's important.

Reading God's word really sets me free. My focus is now realigned towards Him.

I know that I will just do my best and commit to the Lord.

For it says,

Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed. (Proverbs 16:3 NIV84)

I truly believe that :)

With exams imminent, and after much preparation, I supposedly am not supposed to fear, being a woman of God but I still do.

So I ponder, from who really does my help come from? And who am I really running to for refuge at this time? Am I relying on my own strength?

When I look to the hills that are so vast before me, currently my exams, do I believe that my help comes from the lord?

I want to learn to trust Him fully.

With all faith and with full surrender I want to say, indeed my help comes from the Lord.

I look back and thank God for all the seasons He has seen me through, will I not trust Him even with this one?

In this season, as trying as it may be, I know and believe that He is always there. He is watching over me, like a father proudly watching her daughter taking her first few steps yet letting her learn even she needs to stumble. His hand is always reaching out to guide me and support me.

I step out in faith during this trying time and trust that he will support me, that He will keep me from all harm and knowing that he watches over me all the days of my life.

Reflections of Red Alert Camp. :)

Just got back for Red Alert Camp, departed on Friday, 16th of September to Genting View Resort.

At first I did not expect much, but went there with an open and expectant heart.

During this camp, I learnt how to be about the end times, that there is a real sense of urgency and need in these times. The sessions and workshops were really practical on how to be a good disciple.

God also gave me the opportunity to lead the worship team. It was a struggle to step out of my comfort zone. I really thank God for an awesome band and really supportive people. Truthfully, I have always desired to lead others into worship, and I believe God heard my heart's desire. From this, I hope to improve more and glorify God. :)

Vietnam- Day 3

Day 3 was a free and easy day. We took a taxi to a few shopping malls to take a look.

Bought some chocolate from Chocolate Graphics. This place has awesome graphics on chocolate. The second statement is redundant. -.-

Had brunch at Highland Coffee. Vietnamese coffee is one of the best things there. :)

We went over to Parkson across the road after food and walking around a bit in Vincom Center.

After that, we headed to Ben Thanh Market again. This time we found the area on the outside with more reasonable fixed prices and no haggling allowed. So much easier to get things.

After that, we headed back to the hotel to get our luggage and went to the airport.

It was a short but really fulfilling family trip. :) Looking forward to the next one. :D

Vietnam- Day 2

Day 2 of the trip.

We had a one day Mekong trip by TNK travel. Quite a good travel company I must say.

The traffic here is massively heavy. There's a lady traffic police! :)

At a rest stop on the way, we stopped by a place that manufactures handicrafts made painstakingly with love.

We reached the Mekong area and were shown the map of the islands we were going to visit.

We took a boat ride to the island and went to a honey bee farm where we got to experience bees firsthand, drink honey tea and listen to cultural music. :)

After that, we went to an island which produced coconut candy from scratch.

The third island, we had yummy lunch.

The weather that day was really fine and sunny, perfect for island hopping. :)

Vietnam- Day 1

Last hari raya break (somewhere late August and early September), we had a family trip to Vietnam.

Departed for Vietnam early in the morning. Managed to catch the sunrise. :)

Reached Tan Son Nhat airport and took the Vinasun taxi to the hotel.

First meal opposite the hotel at Pho 24, a franchise kind of shop.

Had my CPR exams today. Overall, it wasn't too bad, I had fun but it really drained my energy. Now my arms are aching like crazy. haha.

Headed to Kuchai Lama for dinner, to jalan in little magical shops with lots of things to see and My Honeymoon after. Snowflakes was really full so we decided to try this instead. :)

We ended up ordering, by accident, flavours that revolve around mango. Nice but quite feeling after awhile. I'd go back another day to try other flavours cos it's really unique. :)

My super duper thick set of notes for the week after raya. Notes took an hour to edit and print. Phew.

How time flies, it's week 7 already. :/ Golly, summatives are less than 2 months away. Terribly busy still.

Heading back to the land of fantabulous (I'm trying to use other words to substitute awesome :P) family, friends, food and fun. Can't wait. :D

I remember hobbling around on crutches then, it was just after I had broken my metatarsals.

My, my, how time flies, its 2011 already!

The phase of school and college seems to have flown by ever so quickly and now I'm in my second semester of university in IMU.

Enjoy the song. Fell in love with it the moment it started. :)

Am truly living and loving life. This blog is a reminder of how God has really helped me through all situations. All I am is because of Him.

Looking out my window

Out the window on the way to Penang. Love trips home and spending time with family. :) The trip back to Penang was smooth, with skies ever so blue, but on my way back to KL, the skies that were clear turned downcast and gloomy.

Storm clouds accompanied with peals of thunder and flashes of lightning could be heard and seen.
The ride became bumpy and I felt some fear, yet through it all, I kept singing, though storms may come, I am holding on, and to the rock I cling.

It's raining here; rain will always be a reminder of how magnificent He is and how He always watches always me.
For my God is greater, than any situation that I may face. My God is overall. :)

This is something random I wrote yesterday, after watching little light lasers illuminating my otherwise dark room, here goes :

Where the Christmas tree was, now stands the cherry blossoms to usher in the Lunar New Year. The light floral touch brings a whole new ambience to the living room.

The flowers were bought at Pulau Tikus Market. Costing RM10 for 3 stalks, these are the cheapest I've found. The quality and size is about the same compared to the ones sold in shopping centers.

Cadbury chocolate is a good chocolate chip substitute, just need to take note that it's sweet.
When you bite into the cookie, the chocolate just melts in your mouth. Heavenly. :)

Am trying to improve the recipe, will post it here once it has been improved. :D

Started off my day by going to Pulau Tikus Market, accompanying my grandma and mum. I love going to the market. It's more fun than shopping in a supermarket. Lots to see, hear and smell. LOL.

First stop, for pork.

The uncle is very friendly and wah he has muscles too. xD

Next stop, for chicken.

The slaughterhouse. Workers remove the feathers, decapitate the chickens and put them into a container, after which they are washed.

They chop them very very fast.

Don't they look like they're cowering in fear? :P the ones that are more yellow to the right of the row are kampung chickens.

Followed my mum to the car to load the meat and proceeded to buy some apples to juice and fruits for college link.
Ah Guan's fruit stall.

Back to the car to load the fruits. Next stop, eggs. :D another very nice uncle (basically, all of them are).

Looking around I see a man selling santan and coconut shavings, used to cook curry.

Headed inside where grandma was buying some fish.

We then had breakfast at the market.

Our Second Reunion

5 Science 1, Class of '09 had our second gathering. This time we had it at Mizi Bistro.

Those who were able to make it. 12 of us. :)
